Last season, Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the Premier League with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium. First-half goals from Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard set the stage for a memorable match. Saka’s early strike, following a slick one-two with Gabriel Jesus, and Odegaard’s composed finish after an 18-pass build-up showcased the Gunners’ attacking prowess. Despite a late goal from Matheus Cunha making for a tense finale, Arsenal held on for the win. As they prepare to face Wolves again in their first game of the 2024/25 season, the Gunners will be eager to replicate this success. Arsenal v Liverpool

Arsenal v Liverpool

Saturday 26 October 2024

Emirates Stadium

The last time Arsenal clashed against Liverpool at Emirates Stadium, they moved two points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool with a well-deserved 3-1 victory, thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard. Liverpool were second best for large parts of the contest, with their only goal coming from Gabriel, who inadvertently put the ball into his own net. This defeat marked Liverpool’s second league loss of the season and their first since September. Arsenal made two changes from their previous win against Nottingham Forest, with Jorginho and Kai Havertz stepping in for Emile Smith Rowe and the injured Gabriel Jesus. Liverpool saw the return of Trent Alexander-Arnold and had Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo in place of Dominik Szoboszlai and Darwin Nunez.

The match started with chances for both sides, but Arsenal took the lead in the 14th minute through Saka. Liverpool equalized just before halftime with an own goal from Gabriel. However, Arsenal regained control in the second half, with Martinelli and Trossard securing the win. As Arsenal looks ahead to the 2024/25 season, they will be aiming for a similar success when they face Liverpool again at the Emirates.

Arsenal v Manchester United

Tuesday 03 December 2024

Emirates Stadium

The last time Arsenal and Manchester United clashed at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal scored twice in stoppage time to secure a dramatic 3-1 victory. In a chaotic finale to a largely scrappy game, United initially thought they had snatched three points when Alejandro Garnacho’s 88th-minute finish found the net, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside by the video assistant referee.

The drama then switched to the other end during the eight minutes of added time, as Declan Rice’s deflected shot gave Arsenal the lead before substitute Gabriel Jesus raced clear to wrap up the win, sending the stadium into elation. United had taken the lead in the 27th minute when Christian Eriksen’s outstanding pass played in Marcus Rashford, who cut inside to send a right-foot drive past Arsenal keeper Aaron Ramsdale. The Gunners equalized almost instantly through captain Martin Odegaard. Despite a game that rarely hit the heights, Arsenal found the decisive blows in the closing moments.

As Arsenal looks ahead to the 2024/25 season, they will be hoping for a similar triumph in their next encounter with Manchester United at the Emirates.

Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur

Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur

Tuesday 14 January 2025

Emirates Stadium

The first North London derby of the 2023/24 season ended in a dramatic draw, with Arsenal twice taking the lead at Emirates Stadium only for Tottenham to equalize each time. Cristian Romero had an afternoon to forget for Tottenham, inadvertently sending a Bukayo Saka shot into his own net after 26 minutes. However, Son Heung-min leveled the score before halftime. Early in the second half, Saka converted a VAR-assisted penalty following a Romero handball, but Son responded with his second goal of the game to secure a point for Spurs.

Amidst a crackling atmosphere, Arsenal started brightly and pressed their opponents with intensity. Despite creating numerous chances, including a superb stop by Guglielmo Vicario and a missed opportunity by Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal found themselves pegged back by Spurs’ resilient attacks. Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus were pivotal in ensuring Arsenal’s late draw, and as they look to the 2024/25 season, Arsenal will want to put on a good impression to show Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham side who is better in the upcoming North London derbies.

Arsenal v Manchester City

Saturday 01 February 2025

Emirates Stadium

In their last clash at Emirates Stadium, Gabriel Martinelli marked his return from injury with a decisive late goal, securing Arsenal’s first Premier League victory over Manchester City since 2015 and handing manager Mikel Arteta his maiden win against mentor Pep Guardiola in the competition. Martinelli, introduced at halftime, struck in the 86th minute with a shot deflected off Nathan Ake, lifting Arsenal above City in the table and boosting their aspirations for the title race. Despite missing Bukayo Saka due to injury, Arsenal managed to stifle City’s attacks, with David Raya crucially denying Josko Gvardiol early on. Arteta’s tactical adjustments, including Martinelli’s impactful substitution, proved pivotal as Arsenal capitalized on their chances. Looking ahead to the 2024/25 season, Arsenal will need to summon similar determination as they prepare to contend with four-time Premier League champions Manchester City once more.
