Bolton face Wembley Final against Stockport
League One’s Bolton Wanderers have edged out Bradford City to secure their place at Wembley Stadium for what is sure to be a drama-filled finale.
Their 2-0 aggregate victory earned Bolton a well deserved spot at Wembley, with promotion on the line in what will be an unmissable showpiece in North London.
League One Play Off Finalists
Stockport County await Bolton in the League One Play Off Final 2026, having themselves secured a spot at Wembley by defeating Stevenage 3-0 on aggregate.
The Final is shaping up to be a hotly contested clash between these two Greater Manchester sides, in a match that has a whole lot more than just bragging rights at stake.
Bolton's time to shine?
Wanderers have now reached the final of the play-offs for the second time in three seasons.
Lat time out they were thwarted by Oxford United who edged them out 2-0 in a hard-fought but ultimately underwhelming performance.
Bolton will now want to spurn another opportunity at promotion however, and the disappointment from two seasons should be more than enough motivation to go one step further this time under the Wembley arch.
Stockport back at Wembley
Stockport County were the first team to book their place in the Play Off Final, thanks to a convincing 3-0 aggregate win over Stevenage.
They will be back at Wembley for the second time in as many months, having faced Jack Wilshere’s Luton Town in the Vertu Trophy Final. Stockport took an early lead against Luton, but a Nakhi Wells brace inspired a stirring comeback by Wilshere’s side.
County will not want to suffer another Wembley loss this season, and the experience gained in the Vertu Trophy Final could give them an advantage going into the League 1 Play-Off Final, which could be decided by finest of margins.
