Championship Play-Offs 2024 Guide
What is the format of the Championship Play-Offs?
Teams that finish in the 2023/24 Sky Bet Championship season in 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th positions will qualify for the Play-Offs.
These four teams play each other in two Play-Off Semi-Finals with 3rd place playing against 6th, and 4th place playing against 5th.
Each Semi-Final tie is played across two legs. Away goals don’t count in the Play-Off Semi-Finals. If the scores are level on aggregate at the end of the 2nd leg match, 30 minutes extra times will be played to decide the winner. If there is still no winner, a penalty shoot-out will decide which team progresses to the Championship Play Off Final.
The Championship Play-Off Final is a standalone match, which again can go to extra-time and penalties if the scores are level, with the winner promoted to the Premier League.
