The Chelsea F.C.–Tottenham Hotspur F.C. rivalry, a fiercely contested battle between two of London’s most prominent football clubs, has grown into one of the Premier League’s most anticipated fixtures. Chelsea, who play at Stamford Bridge, and Tottenham, whose home is the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, have faced off 177 times as of May 2024, with Chelsea leading the head-to-head with 79 wins to Tottenham’s 55. Despite their meetings dating back to the early 20th century, the rivalry only truly ignited with the 1967 FA Cup final, the first all-London final. While Chelsea supporters consider Tottenham one of their primary rivals, Spurs fans typically see their rivalry with Chelsea as secondary to their North London clash with Arsenal. Nonetheless, matches between Chelsea and Tottenham are often marked by intense competition and drama, with the infamous “Battle of the Bridge” in 2016 standing out as a particularly memorable encounter.
