Artist Bio

Born in Camden, Arkansas, and raised in Las Vegas, Shaffer Chimere Smith (Ne-Yo) initially entered the music industry as a songwriter. By late 2004, he gained recognition for co-writing Mario’s ‘Let Me Love You,’ a massive radio hit at that time.

Ne-Yo’s journey continued with a solo deal at Def Jam Records. His debut solo album, ‘In My Own Words,’ was released in February 2006 and quickly climbed to the top of the Billboard 200 and R&B/Hip-Hop album charts, supported by the hit single ‘So Sick.’ Additionally, Ne-Yo played a significant role in writing two Top Ten hits: Beyoncé’s ‘Irreplaceable’ and Rihanna’s ‘Unfaithful.’

Following the success of his debut, Ne-Yo released his second album, ‘Because of You,’ in May 2007. This album, too, reached the top of the Billboard 200 and R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. The title track, ‘Because of You,’ became a chart-topping hit, reaching number two on the Hot 100. Ne-Yo’s achievements culminated in a Grammy Award in the category of Best Contemporary R&B Album early the following year.

Now heading out on the ‘Champagne and Roses’ tour with Mario, Ne-Yo will be taking center stage at some of the UK’s largest music venues.
