Artist Bio: Taylor Swift
Born in West Reading, Pennsylvania, Taylor Alison Swift has always shown an interest in music, with early beginnings in child theatre and even performing ‘Star Spangled Banner’ at just age 11 to the crowd at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game.
She eventually moved to Nashville, Tennessee, which was the perfect location to approach country labels and it was with a development deal with RCA Records that she was able to meet renowned names in the industry and join the Sony roster as a songwriter. From her performances in the Nashville area, she was able to gain the attention of record executive Scott Borchetta, who signed her to his Big Machine Label and with whom she released her debut single ‘Tim Mcgraw’ in 2006.
Taylor Swift is no stranger to accolades, her self entitled debut album in 2007 achieved platinum status and sold more than one million copies in the US. Her successive album ‘Fearless’ in 2008 being atop the Billboard 200 chart longer than any other album released in that decade.
Her highly anticipated Eras tour had seen the demand for tickets sky rocket and even her film to accompany the tour which had surpassed $100m in advance sales.
