Artist Bio: Twenty One Pilots
Formed in 2009 by high school friends Tyler Joseph, Nick Thomas, and Chris Salih, Twenty One Pilots quickly garnered a devoted regional following across Ohio and the Midwest through their dynamic live performances and strategic use of social media engagement. Following the departure of Thomas and Salih in 2011, Joseph enlisted drummer Josh Dun to form the duo that would define the band’s identity for years to come. Their self-released debut album, “Twenty One Pilots,” laid the groundwork for their genre-defying sound, blending elements of rap, pop, and electronic music.
Transitioning to the major label scene with Fueled by Ramen in 2012, Twenty One Pilots embarked on a remarkable journey of musical exploration. The release of the “Three Songs” EP and their debut album under the label, “Vessel,” marked a significant turning point in their career. Tracks like “Holding on to You” and “Car Radio” showcased their ability to captivate audiences with emotionally resonant lyrics and infectious melodies, earning them widespread acclaim and setting the stage for even greater success.
However, it was their 2015 album, “Blurryface,” that catapulted Twenty One Pilots into mainstream stardom. Dominating the charts with chart-topping singles such as “Stressed Out” and “Ride,” the album not only showcased their musical versatility but also cemented their status as one of the most innovative acts in contemporary music. Their contribution to the soundtrack of the blockbuster film “Suicide Squad” with the Grammy-nominated hit “Heathens” further solidified their position as trailblazers in the industry.
In the years that followed, Twenty One Pilots continued to push artistic boundaries with each new release. From the introspective depths of “Trench” in 2018 to the more intimate and introspective themes of “Scaled and Icy” in 2021, both albums which saw gold, platinum and silver certifications worldwide.
Now potentially heading out on a world tour to promote their album Clancy due to be released in 2024; with the chance of returning to major music venues across the UK – Register your interest to be among the first to find out about official Twenty One VIP tickets.
