Dimitrov Reigns Under The Lights

Grigor Dimitrov claimed victory in London to become the Nitto ATP Finals champion in 2017 for the first time in his career.

A fantastic match between two improving young players kept the full house of tennis fans at The O2 on the edge of their seats throughout, with both players showing the spectacular shot-making that took them through to the ATP final.

Following the result, Grigor Dimitrov becomes the number three ranked player in the world.

Goffin, the first Belgian to reach to season ending Nitto ATP Final, seemed on course to upset the odds when he claimed the first set tie break 7-6.

Dimitrov Fights Back

Losing the opening set seemed to galvanize Dimitrov, who upped his game to and battled through to take the second set 4-6, following a host of captivating baseline rallies.

Goffin came into the match in a high, having become only one of sixth players to ever beat Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal in the same tournament, but Dimitrov proved a step too far in the season-ending ATP Finals in London.

However with the capacity crowd at The O2 on the edge of their seats, Dimitrov maintained his momentum going into the third and final set, surviving the intense pressure-cooker atmosphere to break to Goffin serve and take victory in the third set 6-3.
