Brooklyn legend Jay-Z will team up with The Roots to close the first day of the 2026 Roots Picnic on May 30 at Belmont Plateau, hosting the festival there for the first time.

This marks their first headlining collaboration in over a decade, since their 2001 MTV Unplugged performance, with The Roots continuing to support him on The Tonight Show.

Jay-Z’s return was teased on March 17 with a poster using the JAŸ-Z styling from his debut album Reasonable Doubt, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. His last headline show was in 2019, and he most recently performed with Beyoncé in 2025. Fans can also hear the original version of Dead Presidents, released on streaming platforms last month.
