Blackpink debuted in August 2016 with their single album Square One, featuring chart-topping hits “Whistle” and “Boombayah.” Their success continued with Square Two (2016) and the global hit “Ddu-Du Ddu-Du” (2018), which made history by entering the UK Singles Chart and receiving RIAA certification. The group broke multiple records with their music videos, including the first Korean group video to reach one and two billion views on YouTube. Blackpink’s achievements include the highest-charting Korean girl group on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Ice Cream” and a number-one album on the Billboard 200 with Born Pink (2022).
With over 40 billion streams and 20 million records sold globally, Blackpink holds multiple Guinness World Records, including the highest-grossing concert tour by a female group. They also became the first Asian act to headline Coachella and lead the way as the most-subscribed music artist on YouTube and the most-streamed girl group on Spotify.

NewJeans debuted on July 22, 2022, with their single “Attention,” which became their first number-one song on South Korea’s Circle Digital Chart. The success continued with “Hype Boy” and “Cookie,” with “Hype Boy” becoming the longest-running song by a K-pop female act on the Billboard Global 200. Their debut EP, released in August 2022, featured these hits. In January 2023, NewJeans released their successful first single album OMG, which included the chart-topping “Ditto,” marking the group’s first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart. NewJeans earned rookie awards and recognition in lists such as Time’s Next Generation Leaders and Forbes’s Korea Power Celebrity 40. In 2023, IFPI ranked them as the eighth best-selling artist worldwide.

Jimin released three solo tracks under BTS—”Lie” (2016), “Serendipity” (2017), and “Filter” (2020)—all of which charted on South Korea’s Gaon Digital Chart. His first credited solo song, “Promise,” came in 2018, followed by the 2022 duet “With You” for Our Blues. In 2023, Jimin’s debut solo album Face topped charts in South Korea and Japan, and peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200, making him the highest-charting Korean solo artist. The album’s single “Like Crazy” made history as the first song by a Korean solo artist to debut at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. Jimin also became the first Korean solo artist to top the Billboard Artist 100 chart. In 2024, he released his second album Muse and its lead single “Who,” which debuted at number one on the Billboard Global 200.

As of 2023, BTS is the best-selling musical act in South Korean history, having sold over 40 million albums. Their album Map of the Soul: 7 (2020) is the fourth best-selling album of all time in South Korea and the first to surpass four and five million sales. They were the first Asian act to sell out concerts at Wembley Stadium and the Rose Bowl during the Love Yourself World Tour (2019). BTS has won multiple American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and Golden Disc Awards, and received five Grammy nominations.
