Premier League 2024-25 GW7 Review
Aston Villa 0 - 0 Manchester United
Chelsea 1 - 1 Nottingham Forest
Noni Madueke’s equalizer secured a point for Chelsea in a 1-1 draw against 10-man Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge. After a lackluster first half, Chris Wood put Forest ahead in the 49th minute, directing a low shot into the corner following a set-piece. Chelsea responded quickly, with Madueke firing home in the 57th minute after a setup from James Ward-Prowse, who was later sent off in the 78th minute for a second yellow card.
Despite Chelsea’s dominance and late chances, including a near miss from Palmer, both teams settled for a draw. Chelsea remains fourth in the league with 14 points, while Forest is ninth with 10 points.
Brighton 3 - 2 Tottenham Hotspur
Brighton & Hove Albion staged a stunning second-half comeback to secure a thrilling 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at the Amex Stadium. After a strong start from Spurs, where Brennan Johnson netted early and James Maddison doubled the lead before halftime, Brighton rallied after the break. Yankuba Minteh pulled one back just after halftime, followed by Georginio Rutter, who equalized by weaving through Spurs’ defense.
Rutter then assisted Danny Welbeck for the winner, completing a remarkable turnaround. Despite a late effort from Destiny Udogie, Brighton held on for the win, lifting them to sixth place in the Premier League, while Spurs face defensive concerns ahead of their next match against West Ham.
Crystal Palace 0 - 1 Liverpool
Arsenal 3 - 1 Southampton
Brentford 5 - 3 Wolves
Leicester 1 - 0 Bournemouth
Leicester City secured their first Premier League win of the season with a 1-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth at the King Power Stadium. Facundo Buonanotte’s stunning 16th-minute strike proved decisive for the Foxes. Despite a much-improved second-half display from Bournemouth, including a disallowed free-kick from Lewis Cook and efforts from Illia Zabarnyi and Dango Ouattara hitting the woodwork, the Cherries couldn’t find an equaliser. Leicester climbed to 15th place, while Bournemouth sit 13th, two points ahead of their opponents.
Manchester City 3 - 2 Fulham
Manchester City secured a 3-2 comeback win over Fulham at the Etihad Stadium, with Mateo Kovacic netting twice to end City’s three-match winless run in the Premier League. Andreas Pereira gave Fulham a 26th-minute lead, but City equalized through Kovacic before half-time.
Kovacic struck again early in the second half, and Jeremy Doku added a third late on. Despite a late goal from Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz, City held on to stay second, one point behind leaders Liverpool. Fulham remain sixth, missing chances to capitalize on their early lead.
West Ham 4 - 1 Ipswich Town
West Ham United secured their first home win of the season with a 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town at the London Stadium. Michail Antonio opened the scoring after just 48 seconds, but Liam Delap equalized for Ipswich five minutes later. Mohammed Kudus restored West Ham’s lead before half-time, and second-half goals from captain Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta sealed a comprehensive win. Ipswich, struggling defensively, remain winless and just above the relegation zone, while West Ham’s victory lifts them to 12th in the Premier League standings.
Everton 0 - 0 Newcastle United
Anthony Gordon’s missed penalty cost Newcastle United as they were held to a 0-0 draw against Everton at Goodison Park. Gordon, returning to his former club, saw his spot-kick saved by England teammate Jordan Pickford after James Tarkowski fouled Sandro Tonali in the box. Everton had a penalty shout of their own denied in the second half when Dominic Calvert-Lewin went down under Dan Burn’s challenge. Despite late pressure, including a missed chance by Gordon, the match ended goalless. The result leaves Everton in 16th, while Newcastle move into the top six.
