Il Etait Temps Wins Queen Mother Champion Chase 2026
Do not miss the glamour and style on Ladies Day at the Cheltenham Festival 2027.
Queen Mother Champion Chase 2026
Ladies Day at the 2026 Cheltenham Festival delivered thrilling racing and standout performances, with Willie Mullins stealing the spotlight thanks to a superb treble. The feature race, the Queen Mother Champion Chase, saw Il Etait Temps power home under Paul Townend, overcoming a late mistake to seal a dramatic victory after favourite Majborough’s jumping errors proved costly.
Mullins set the tone early with King Rasko Grey before securing a one-two in the Novices’ Chase, as Kitzbuhel held off Final Demand with an impressive display. Elsewhere, winners for Nicky Henderson, Venetia Williams, and Gavin Cromwell added to an action-packed day, rounded off by The Mourne Rambler’s comfortable success in the bumper—capping a memorable Ladies Day filled with drama, quality, and headline-making performances.
There was a lot of work put into this horse after Ascot so I have a lot of people to thank. It shows how tough this lad is… I wasn't going to force him but he just found his rhythm.
Out of the corner of my eye I could see Paul Townend thinking ‘now we have a horse race’. He started to get confident and planned his move around the last bend.
