Stayers' Hurdle 2026

Home By The Lee produced a remarkable performance to land the Grade One Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle at the fifth time of asking, becoming the joint-oldest winner of the race at 11 years old.

Ridden by JJ Slevin, the veteran stayed on strongly to beat Ballyburn by a length and a quarter, with Bob Olinger finishing third. Trained by Joseph O’Brien, the victory marked a memorable moment for connections, with the popular stayer showcasing his toughness and consistency on one of racing’s biggest stages at Cheltenham.

He’s as tough as nails. It was a huge team effort by everyone at home.

Joseph O' Brien, Trainer

He won well the last day. He was on fire in the ring beforehand, Joseph told me he was flying. For him to come and win it is just unreal.

JJ Slevin, Jockey

They’ll be singing, ‘Beautiful city, charming and pretty, beautiful city, my Home By The Lee! He’s won 12 and been placed in five.

Sean O' Driscoll, Owner/Breeder
