Vunipola To Miss Lions Tour

England star no.8 Billy Vunipola has been sidelined for the British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand this summer with a shoulder injury.

The talismanic 24 year old has produced some phenomenal displays for England and club side Saracens, but the injury, which he has been coping with for some time, now requires treatment which will rule him out of the 2017 Lions tour of down under.
Lions head coach Warren Gatland has called up Wasps and England powerhouse James Haskell to replace Vunipola in the Lions squad after the Aviva Premiership Final at the end of May.
Garland told the media “Billy has been carrying an injury and feels he wouldn’t be able to contribute fully to the Tour and needs further medical treatment, we have called up James to the squad and look forward to welcoming him into camp before we depart.”
Vunipola will be a loss for the Lions this summer but England fans and Twickenham hospitality guests will be hoping that their big-hitting forward is back in action in time for the Autumn Internationals this November.
England face ArgentinaAustralia and Samoa in the Old Mutual Wealth Series 2017 at Twickenham Stadium, which gets underway on Saturday 18 November.
